Photo Journal: St Petersburg, Russia 🇷🇺 (My Favorite City In The World)

Intro

It's hard for me to be impressed anymore. Genuinely, I can sit in front of world wonders and be like "eh". But St Petersburg? It frankly blew me away. I have to say, I think I have finally found what I can call "my favorite city in the world". Over the course of three days, I went all around SPB, clocking in well over 90,000 steps, and in this post, I would like to walk you through the beauty of Saint Petersburg.

But this time, through a photo journal!

The Beauty Of SPB

I'll let the captions speak for themselves here about what went on:

On the first day, I went for a light stroll. While not exactly pictured, there were plenty of USSR buildings around SPB.

The USSR has always fascinated me, such as some of its policies. You know the government would have to provide funds if a citizen wanted to travel abroad, as the Ruble was not recognized.

I continued through the famous gardens, which had a special feel to it with people walking around with their loved ones.

But probably the standout part was seeing families relax on boats come sunset. I never thought of Russia in this way, only cold lol.

Sometimes, some things are just too beautiful to put into words.

Side note: another thing I realized (more about this in Kazan) is how many Muslims there are in Russia. I never knew this before coming... Also has nothing to do with this picture; I am just rambling.

But along came what is basically, in my eyes, the baby St Peter's Basilica, haha.

I met a few nice people here, who offered to take a picture of me with this beautiful monument in the background.

Part of the reason I did this is because I was taking the grand express later that night to Moscow. So, I figured that this would be a great learning experience, and it was.

Russia has a long-standing history with trains, as it played a pivotal role in certain periods.

I walked all the way across the bridge because I saw a pirate ship that reminded me of Jack Sparrow. See, I am still 10 years old inside

Now, I then saw this Navy vessel, and the Navy also played a big role in conflicts. Still, to this day, but more so with submarines.

But then I found the Man O War (I think). Seemed to be a restaurant, sadly. BOOOOO.

Now, I was just about to go home when I came across this big thing in the sky. So I went to go check it out, and at the same time, there was a government official arriving in the backyard via helicopter. How cool is that!

Families were enjoying playing in the park on a beautiful summer day.

And the final picture I will leave you with before I went for a short sleep at the hostel before the train, is this building. Take a guess where it is.

Final Thoughts

Anyway, that's my photo journal of St Petersburg and the sites. Truly my favorite city in the world. I will have a few more posts about the city, but more detail-oriented, haha. If you are planning a trip to SPB, my recommendation is this: bring your walking shoes and just walk in a direction. Stop by places that seem interesting. Leave the handbook at home, and just be open for the day. Explore that local cafe, go inside that museum, and maybe have a few local brews.
