Spending A Day In Bangkok: Sleeping A Lot 😂

Intro
Following a delightful sleep onboard the Japan Airlines 787-8 in Business Class, and getting sat down by Thai immigration at BKK, I was able to spend the day in Bangkok. Well, saying I 'spent the day' would be a bit of an over exaggeration, as the only thing I really did was sleep. However, the effort was there.
A Much-Needed Sleep
Bangkok has a very special place in my heart. After falling in love with a very lovely Thai woman (yes, a woman), enjoying Songkran, and simply enjoying life every time I am there, I was thoroughly looking forward to spending a day getting a massage and hitting Soi Cowboy (joking, of course) .
Well, upon arriving at my very cheap Airbnb, which I paid for 2 nights (30$ per night) I checked in, grabbed a cheeky Chang, and took a much-needed shower. Switching on White Lotus (my new favorite show), I decided to watch a few episodes before attempting to take a nap for about 4 hours.

I set an alarm for midday, and woke up at, wait for it, woke up at 8 pm 😂. Honestly, it must have been needed as I rarely sleep for 12 hours. Never in a million years...
But it wasn't all bad, since my flight was at 2 am, and I figured this might be perfect for beating jetlag (oh, how I was wrong later). Anyways, I ordered some delicious pizza while watching White Lotus, and relaxed for a couple of hours before heading out to the airport.

An interesting stay in Bangkok? Definitely not, but there's a point to this post (instead of just listening to me rant about my life, I promise).
Listen To Your Body While Traveling
I understand that for a lot of people, some might not get the opportunity to go back and visit Thailand, or that once-in-a-lifetime trip to the Maldives needs to be maximized by spending every minute outside. I get it, I totally do, my mum is in the same boat when she travels. She works hard 50 weeks of the year, so she feels like she has to enjoy every second in the Seychelles or wherever.

However, the most important part when traveling is not to burn out more on your trips. The feeling of overexhaustion just isn't worth it. If your body says to you, "I am done", listen to it. When I went to Ukraine and pulled many all-nighters due to having to be awake during air raid alarms, I pushed myself a little too hard, and it became catch-up for the next few weeks.
So, yeah, this day in Bangkok didn't look fun, but that's part of traveling. Most of it isn't. The flight delays, sleeping in airports, and simply not knowing what will happen in the next minute. I live for that kind of stuff, but I am well aware that it isn't exactly normal 😅.
Final Thoughts
While not the most productive day ever in Bangkok, I had a lovely sleep, and at the time, it was exactly what was needed. If you happen to feel your body and mind saying, "just relax", listen to it, do not try and fight it. Heck, even last night, I was trying to stay awake until 7 pm, worrying I would wake up at 2 am. Turns out, I woke up at 6 am 🤣 (I was marlin fishing, hence why I was tired).
