Intro
Russia is truly a surreal place, and my day out exploring the touristy sites in Moscow was one of the better days I've ever had in my life. While I could write about one individually, I wanted to provide a photo gallery so you could try and see it through my eyes. If you are planning a trip to Moscow, this long walk around the three places is a must-do, and perhaps finish it off with a local burger which has jam as a topping!
The Details
There aren't many places left in the world that I can spend 5 hours just walking around. No taxi, no Yandex, nothing. However, Moscow is one of those places where walking came to me again. Not to say I am lazy 😅, but it's a surreal city to do so. Architecture that will blow your mind, pop into a pub for a pint, continue walking, and meet many friendly Russians.
So, for 5 hours straight, we walked around, and what a walk it was.

It was then that we saw the drop-dead gorgeous St Peter's Basilica. Truly one of the most incredible sites I have visited across my travels. Much better than Machu Picchu, regardless of how many people were there.

After walking around for two hours (I didn't go inside the Kremlin), we continued walking along the streets. We came across an "influencer" event, at which point it made me realize, "we view Russia as being different than us, but in reality, we are the same, but just a little bit different". They still hold big marketing events, people still go clubbing, people still can have fun, but we are also people at the end of the day.
Moscow isn't so different from New York, but Moscow is more beautiful 😉...

Now, we also came across this very large building in the distance, and my friend informed me that there are seven of these buildings that look similar, but are not the same. They were built under the Stalin era, and really do look quite commanding!

Okay, for my next point: Moscow is one of the cleanest cities I have ever seen in my life. I can't say the same for the rest of Russia, as Krasnojarsk was a little different. However, it was rare to come across a piece of litter in downtown, it was rare to see cigarette butts, and cleaners would come around the streets every day in machines to hose them down...
A lot of countries could learn a thing or two. I would even go as far as to say that Moscow is cleaner than Singapore...

Finally, to finish up the afternoon, we headed to a local burger spot called "Burger Heroes". It's a chain throughout Moscow, and I have to say, I was quite impressed as an American who loves burgers. The only thing that caught me off guard was the fact that they give you gloves, and that they put jam on the burgers...
Other than that, really nice.

Final Thoughts
Spending the day walking around the sights in Moscow was one of the highlights of my trip. Granted, I was with lovely company, but the architecture simply blew me away. There are such few cities left in the world where I can walk for hours on end, forgetting what time it is, but Moscow is one of those places. If you are thinking of going to Russia, spending a day like this is an absolute must!
