Etihad Adds A350-1000 To Frankfurt: Exciting!

Konrad Tillman

Intro

Etihad as always had a bit of an interesting fleet, and none more interesting than the 5 current A350-1000s that they have serving the likes of Tokyo, New Delhi, New York (JFK), and Atlanta to name a few. Well, it seems that Etihad has decided to throw the A350-1000 on yet another route, but only for a limited time.

The Details

Etihad currently flies 2x daily from Abu Dhabi International Airport to Frankfurt (FRA) with a 787-9 and a 787-10. Well, throughout October this year, the airline will be switching strategies a bit as 5 of those 14 weekly flights will be served with an A350-1000.

If I were to take a shot in the dark and guess why this route would be upgraded, it is probably due to Oktoberfest in Germany. Etihads 787-9 features 262 economy seats, and 28 business class seats, while the 787-10 features 295 economy seats and 32 business class seats. On the flip side, the Etihad A350-1000 features a whopping 44 business class seats, and 327 economy seats representing a significant capacity increase.

The Etihad A350-1000 Business Class seems like a lovely product.

Final Thoughts

If you happen to be heading to Oktoberfest this year in Germany, try to look out for the relatively new A350-1000 on this route. While some frequencies will be operated by the Dreamliner, the A350-1000 is always a joy to fly.

If you want to get on the A350-1000 to somewhere else, the airline currently flies this plane from Abu Dhabi to Chicago, New York, Atlanta, Milan, Amsterdam, Mumbai, New Delhi, and Tokyo Narita. Award space is relatively easy to find on Etihad, so this could be a nice redemption opportunity!
