Wide Open Award Space To Amsterdam With United

Konrad Tillman

Intro

Finding wide open award space on United Polaris to Europe is relatively tricky these days in advance. Well, it seems that United has dumped saver space to Amsterdam for a lot of this year, and into early next year.

The Details

If visiting the Dutch capital is on your books, and you have some AMEX points lying around, this could be the perfect opportunity. From March 2025 until February 2026, United has dumped plenty of saver space between the East Coast and Amsterdam.

Depending on what better suits your needs, you can either fly from Washington (IAD) which has a decent Polaris Lounge, or Newark (EWR) which has an amazing Peruvian bartender.

While United raised their award chart to charge 80K from the USA to Europe, Aeroplan offers the same flight but for 60K Miles. If you take Iberia and Virgin Atlantic out of the equation, this is one of the cheaper ways to fly across the Atlantic in Business Class.

No matter if you have AMEX or Chase Points lying around, you can transfer either to Aeroplan at a 1:1 ratio (and sometimes better with bonuses). Usually, these transfers are instant, but be aware that they can occasionally be held up.

Considering United Polaris is one of the better business classes in the USA, you will be treated to the Polaris Lounge at your departure airport, a nice seat onboard, and usually friendly service. For a US Carrier, you can't ask for much more...

Final Thoughts

If you are thinking about taking a trip to Europe and have a stack of Chase or AMEX points, you'll be happy to know that United has opened up saver space (I) to Amsterdam on quite a few dates. For 60K Aeroplan miles, this isn't a bad redemption across the Atlantic. If you are flying out of IAD, make sure to check out the Polaris Lounge!
