Wide Open Award Space On Japan Airlines With AA Miles
American Airlines Advantage program offers some terrific redemption opportunities, and one of those terrific redemption opportunities has just had plenty of space released. With winter demand heading down JAL has dumped seats to American to Haneda for 70K miles+ minimal taxes.
Let's get into some dates. For starters, the hardest route to find premium availability has been on the JFK route as the demand is so high. There are a couple of open days over the next few weeks.
If you want to continue on to Bangkok, it's the same price! 70K miles for 20 hours in JAL business class is incredible.
What's the catch? Not a catch exactly, but I am not able to find any availability on the new A350 business class, and currently there are no seats available in First. The business class on the 777-300 is still a fantastic product.
Bonus Deal: BA space open to South Africa
Africa is one of the most incredible continents in the world. However, getting to the South can prove to be relatively expensive in premium-fare cabins. For 75K and around 400$ in taxes, one is able to get from North America to South Africa! Not bad at all!
If you get lucky, you might be able to snag an upgrade to the new BA first on the 777 for a small fee at the airport.
Final Thoughts
There is currently wide open space for Japan Airlines over to Haneda from JFK, ORD, and somewhat from SFO. If you are thinking about a trip to Japan on miles, now might be the time to take it. The only small thing I am seeing is that there is no return space but, Japan isn't the worst place to be stranded during cherry blossom season, right?
There is also wide open J award space to Jo'burg, act quickly as this is another great deal!
