Two Passengers Pass Away At The Same Time On A Saudia Flight

Intro

Unfortunately, death is something that commonly (somewhat) occurs on planes, with so many passenger flights operating daily. However, recent news has come out reporting on quite a circumstance, and my thoughts go out to those and the families affected. This is peculiar...

The Details

For those unaware, there is a huge market connecting Indonesia (the country with the most Muslims) and Saudi Arabia. Garuda operates 777s, commonly known as 'pilgrimage flights', and Saudia also operates many routes connecting the two countries.

On June 20th, 2025, Saudia was operating what seemed like a routine flight between Jeddah and Surabaya. Sometime during the flight, two passengers tragically passed away, one reportedly due to high blood pressure, and the other was presumed to have had a heart attack.

But here is where it gets really odd: both passengers reportedly passed away almost exactly at the same time, within a minute. And to make things even stranger, one of the men who passed away was only 67. It's a very peculiar circumstance to have not one, but two passengers pass away at the same time on a flight.

There were doctors onboard who attempted to care for the deceased, but pronounced them both dead. In a small piece of good news, both bodies were flown home.

Death On Flights

Unfortunately, death is something that can find us humans at any time, and in any place, even in the sky. In the past, we have seen videos circulate of a passenger who passed away on Qatar Airways, and then the couple seated next to them proceeded to complain that the airline didn't accommodate them. While a horrifying situation, there wasn't much the airline could do.

Final Thoughts

Tragically, two passengers passed away at the same time on a flight from Jeddah to Surabaya a couple of days ago. Somehow, both passengers were pronounced dead at almost the exact same time, which is one of the rarest encounters I have personally seen. My thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by these losses.
