Intro
After arriving on a horrifically timed redeye from Bangkok on Eva Air, I had quite a bit of time to kill in the Singapore Airlines Silver Kris Lounge in Taipei before my flight over to Seoul.
While most Star Alliance passengers seem to head over to the EVA Air Lounge, the Singapore Airlines Lounge is much better in my opinion. The food is delightful, the showers are decadent, the service is lovely, and it never gets too busy!
Location+Access
Much like the other Star Alliance lounges in Taipei, the SQ SilverKris Lounge is located in Terminal 2, up the stairs, and on the opposite side to the EVA Air Lounge in the very back. To dumb it down, it's on the same side as the KFC, Plaza Premium Lounge, and Starbucks.

When it comes to access, the SilverKris lounge follows the same rules as most Star Alliance lounges:
Those departing on a same-day ticket on a Star Alliance Carrier with Star Alliance Gold
Those departing on a same-day ticket on a Star Alliance Carrier in business/first class
No, you do not get access upon arrival.
Seating
Stepping into the lounge, I was pleased to see that this place was empty. As soon as you walk in, there is a small section of seating off to the side, providing a great place for privacy.

Following along, you get to the main part of the lounge, which is one big room laid out with plenty of different seating options. Whether you are looking for a comfortable,e relaxing chair, a place for dining, or a place for a drink and a conversation, this lounge has it all.
The other aspect to note is that power outlets are available at almost every seat in the lounge. The SQ team did fantastically when designing this!

Overall, this is a fantastic lounge when it comes to seating, as there always seem to be room to spread out, even right before an SQ departure.
Dining
Before we even begin to talk about dining, let it be known that I am a picky eater, so for me to write about this is unbelievable ha.
Located in the middle of the lounge is where you will find an extensive buffet offering plenty of options. SQ does not serve breakfast in the lounge (it used to open at 11), instead they only serve lunch/dinner items.

I have some good airport food in my life, but these braised pork ribs combined with the sticky rice: OH MY GOD. I actually choose to transit through Taipei now due to having multiple servings of this every time I can.

Drinks
Continuing on, Singapore Airlines also offers an extensive selection of beverages throughout the lounge. Whether you are looking to hydrate before your flight with some canned sparkling water or enjoy the last of the Taiwanese beer, they have it all.

Now for the bar. The SilverKris Lounge features all of the standard drinks you would want at an airport bar, plus a bottle of white wine, sparkling wine, and a house red. Minus the sparkling wine, the options are of decent quality.

Showers
While showers are of the utmost luxury in Taipei (probably the best options in Asia), Singapore Airlines might just fall short in this category compared to EVA Air. Not because the showers here aren't good, just EVAs are swanky.
If you are looking to take a shower, just head to the back of the lounge where there is a large shower suite usually ready for use. It's not usually too bust (I've never seen someone use it), and featues all the amenities you need.

Toilets are located in the back of the lounge, right next to the showers. Although, for some reason, I can't find the pictures I took of them. Guess I'll have to go back to update the review!
Final Thoughts
The Singapore Airlines Lounge in Taipei is one of the best lounges in the network, in my humble opinion. Featuring nice showers, delicious braised pork ribs, an extensive selection of self-serve drinks, and friendly service, it is far superior to the EVA Air lounge next door. If you happen to have access, make sure to check out this lounge!
