Intro
Following an interesting couple of flights on EVA Air in Business Class, it was time to go explore country 102 for the night. Korea has long been on the list of places I have wanted to visit, primarily due to how nice the people are, and of course, the food.
Well, I was recommended a hotel called “Shilla Stay” during my one night there, and for the value of 140$ (ish) per night, this isn’t a bad place to stay. This isn’t a full review per se, but I just wanted to share a look at my one-night stay in Seoul.
Around The Hotel
Arriving late at night, it was relatively easy to find the hotel after the 45-minute drive from the airport. Just up the stairs lay a beautiful lobby, reminding me that I was definitely back in Asia. There is something about the way that hotels are decorated in East Asia, the ambiance is sensational.

With the lovely staff checking me in no time, I headed up to my basic room for the night. Each room is laid out with a comfortable bed, a televesion, a small desk, and a functioning bathroom. Certainly not on the larger side of rooms, but it did the trick when the only thing that was on my mind was sleep.

However, when it became morning time, I was disappointed to see that there was no coffee machine. Not the end of the world, but it certainly would have helped to get me on my way to Bali.

A Little Bit Of Seoul
While the previous night I had the opportunity to visit one of my oldest friends in the world (known her since I was three), it was more of just a dinner than seeing Seoul. So when my alarm went off at 7 am to get going, I quickly sprang into action to take advantage of the little time I had left in the city.

Seoul is a beautiful city, whether you are just looking to walk around into a local coffee shop, or perhaps go shopping, it is clean, safe, and beautiful. I mean, I wouldn’t rank it over the likes of Tokyo, but it is very different in its own way.

All in all, I had a lovely morning strolling the streets of Seoul and would happily do it again.
Final Thoughts
If visiting Seoul is on your list for the future, I highly recommend checking out the Shilla Stay if you are there for one night only. It is centrally located, has good pricing, and the rooms are clean enough. However, just keep in mind that what you see is what you get, so if Seoul is the main focal point of your trip, perhaps splurge for a more luxurious property.
But Seoul, that you must visit 😉. Korea is a country that is often further overlooked than others in the region, especially in comparison to Japan. However, I am planning on going back in a few months as I have always wanted to visit Busan, as well as visit the DMZ with North Korea.
