Wide Open Award Space To Morocco!

Konrad Tillman

Intro

For those who want a taste of the beautiful continent of Africa, without getting a full taste of how Africa can sometimes be, Morocco can be the perfect place to start. Located a quick 8-hour flight from the East Coast, the beautiful country offers plenty to do. From bustling street markets to gorgeous beaches to riding camels through the desert, this is a country that should be on your bucket list.

The best part is that there is pretty much wide open award space to Casablanca!

The Details

Royal Air Maroc, the flag carrier of Morocco, has released business class award space on almost every flight from now until the end of the calendar year. This is great news for Oneworld Flyers based in the USA, as you can book these tickets either through American Airlines Miles or Alaska Airlines Miles.

From the US-Morocco= American Airlines charges 57.5K Miles in Business Class

From the US-Morocco= Alaska Airlines charges 45K Miles in Business Class

Considering that Alaska Airlines miles have now become much easier to acquire, this could potentially be a fantastic redemption for points, even if the hard product isn’t that great on Royal Air Maroc (review from Live and Let's Fly).

There is one catch, though: Royal Air Maroc seems to only be releasing one award seat per flight in Business, meaning that this is best suited for those looking to go solo. Alternatively, there is plenty of connecting space through London for multiple people, but that requires having to pay the hefty surcharges that BA tacks on.

Final Thoughts

If you are looking for a new destination spot (or repeat if you’ve been) this year, you’ll be happy to know that Royal Air Maroc seems to be releasing plenty of award space between the East Coast and Morocco through the 2025 calendar year. 45K miles to Africa isn’t a bad deal at all. Perhaps you could even add on a leg further south to ride the Iron Ore Train in Mauritania
