Redeem Jetblue Points For TAP Air Portugal

Konrad Tillman

Intro

Jetblue has just announced their latest partner when it comes to using points, and I have to say I am excited by it. Finding award space across the atlantic for a reasonable price can be difficult at time, and this addition, it makes it a tad bit easier.

A while ago, we saw Jetblue allow award bookings for Qatar Airways as well.

The Details

While this was announced a while ago, Jetblue has launched a partnership with TAP Air Portugal, where customers of the Trueblue program can now redeem miles for flights on TAP. Traditionally, redeeming miles for TAP comes in waves; occasionally we will see wide open award space and other times there will be very little award space.

While TAP Air Portugal doesn't offer the best business class in the sky, passengers are still treated to lovely Portugese wine, and a lie-flat seat.

How Much Are Awards?

The nicest aspect of this partnership is that Jetblue is offering decent mileage redemptions on TAP. For 59,000 Trueblue miles, passengers can fly from anywhere in the US to Lisbon on TAP. Additionally, Jetblue passes on most of the taxes and fees so leaving Europe, you would only have to pay 5.60$. Of course, depending on where you are departing from in Europe, there can be much higher fees.

While I haven't been able to gather what the award chart looks like to South America, I was able to find some award space down to Accra where TAP flies their A321neo. These price out quite steeply at a whopping 69,000 miles, but at least there is the option.

Hypothetically speaking, TAP flies to a couple of destinations further south in Africa, such as Luanda, Maputo, and Johannesburg. However, I have still yet to find award space on any of them.

Final Thoughts

For those looking for a decent way to cross the atlantic on points, Jetblue has just announced a partnership with TAP Air Portugal. For 34,000 one way in economy, and 59,000 points in Business Class, you can fly from anywhere in North America to Lisbon. A decent deal, and one I am personally looking to take advantage of.
