US Aims To Ban Dual Citizenship? Huh?

Intro

This would be a huge development for the United States, should this new bill be implemented...

Throughout the world, countries have their own rules and regulations about whether one can be a dual citizen or not. For example, those from China, India, Japan, and Saudi Arabia face issues (or bans) from becoming dual citizens, but many countries, such as the UK, the US, and France, all allow dual citizenship. Well, a new ban might be coming into place, and this would properly suck...

The Details

A Republican senator from Ohio has just introduced a new bill aiming to combat those with dual (or more than 2) citizenships. To put this bluntly, he is aiming to pass a bill where those with multiple citizenships will have to revoke their other citizenships or lose their US citizenship and passport with it.

If this bill were to pass, this would mean that within 1 year of it passing, aliens of the United States would have to get rid of other citizenships... If they do not, their US citizenship will be revoked...

My Thoughts

I get this whole movement into wanting to basically have American citizens live and breathe America, but I do feel that this is a bit much, especially when it comes to the US. Why? Well, in many countries such as China and Japan (and Indonesia for that matter), people are leaving to go work in the US and other regions of the world, while they might end up with a passport after going through the process.

But now, why I don't think it will pass is that it's purely based on patriotism, and when it comes to pass, I feel like people in the business sector won't be happy. Sure, maybe 1% of the top businessmen might have dual citizenship, but even 1% being irritated might put off certain employees on closing deals in the US. Sure, the ESTA is easy enough, but not all people are eligible...

To put it simply: if the government sees that they can make more money by banning dual citizenship, then they will. That's the way the world works, patriotism or not...

Final Thoughts

A senator from Ohio has just proposed a new bill attempting to ban those with dual citizenship from the United States. Should the bill pass, which I think won't happen, people will be given a year to renounce their citizenship from the other respective countries, or lose their US citizenship. It's a bit ridiculous, and solely built on patriotism, there is no denying it...
