Intro
There are big moves coming for the Polish Airline, as they plan on installing a brand new business class across their fleet, as well as new economy and premium economy cabins. However, a few days ago, the latest route announcement came out, and it seems like LOT is set to serve a new destination in the USA come 2026. This will mark LOT's 6th destination across the United States, in addition to New York (JFK), Newark (EWR), Los Angeles (LAX), Chicago (ORD), and Miami (MIA).
The Details
Beginning May 6th, 2026, LOT Polish Airlines is set to launch a summer seasonal service connecting Warsaw and San Francisco 4x weekly. While we will see the 787 being deployed on this route, LOT is notorious for swapping the -8 and -9 depending on capacity and demand on each given day, but I would imagine the 787-8 would be the preferred choice.
The service is set to operate on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays with the following schedule:
Thursdays and Sundays will be as follows:
LO35: Warsaw-San Francisco departing at 11:15 and arriving at 13:50
LO36: San Francisco-Warsaw departing at 15:50 and arriving at 12:05 (+1 day)
While service on Wednesdays and Saturdays will look as follows:
LO35: Warsaw-San Francisco departing at 17:40 and arriving at 20:15
LO36: San Francisco-Warsaw departing at 22:15 and arriving at 18:30 (+1 day)

Makes Logical Sense
Let's be honest, San Francisco fits right into the LOT network, and I am surprised that this route wasn't launched ahead of Miami, honestly. While it was set to launch in 2020, and then COVID happened, it's about time that this service came about. With San Francisco being a fortress hub for United Airlines, and no direct flights to SFO, this is ideal for anyone looking to get to the West Coast from Warsaw.
Honestly, I would go as far as to say that I wouldn't be surprised if this route stuck around outside of the seasonal service. Additionally, LOT recently received two new Dreamliners, which will allow them to further expand into markets such as SFO. Off topic, but I would be curious to see how their market shifts once the conflict with Russia and Ukraine is over, since I'd imagine service to BKK would resume.
Final Thoughts
LOT Polish Airlines is set to serve their 6th destination in the United States come May 2026. While this is set to be a seasonal service for the time being, one would have to imagine that this route will do well due to the Star Alliance connectivity in SFO. This opens up the West Coast, Hawaii, French Polynesia, Australia, New Zealand, and a few other Western destinations. Those who are Warsaw or SFO based are in for a treat here.
