JetBlue Mini Mint+Lounges Coming Soon

Intro

JetBlue has been guzzling money for years, with the merger falling through with Spirit, and having to cut multiple transatlantic routes; some things had to change. Good news: it is changing, as we are set to see Mini Mint and Lounge roll out soon. Exciting!

Mini Mint Rollout

JetBlue realistically offers three types of aircraft at the moment. Those with the new mint, those with the old mint, and the majority with no mint (business class). This has left a lot of issues, such as most connecting tickets only having 1 portion in business, and many routes not selling business at all. Whereas Delta, United, and American have a Domestic First/Business on almost all of their aircraft.

Well, there is an update, as the aircraft that feature no sort of Mint will now be getting "Mini Mint" over the next 2 years. The plan is that the oldest planes will first be retrofitted, and go in order from the oldest to the newest. The estimation is that by the end of 2026, 25% of the fleet will have Mini Mint, and by the end of 2027, most of the fleet will have this product.

While we are not sure what the soft product will look like onboard (hopefully extremely good like their normal Mint), JetBlue has noted that the seat being used will be vastly similar to the American Airlines domestic seat. Basic, but functional...

For reference, all of the A320 series will have 12 First Class seats installed, while the A220s will have 8 First Class seats installed (4 seats per row).

Lounge Situation

With the addition of Mini Mint, you can clearly see that JetBlue is catching up to the times of their competitors. Previously, those flying Mint did not have access to lounges, since, well, JetBlue did not have any lounges.

However, before the end of 2025, we can expect to see a new JetBlue lounge open in New York, which will span roughly 8,000 square feet. And come 2026, we can see a larger lounge, approximately 11,000 square feet, open up in Boston.

However, keep in mind that these lounges will not be accessible by those flying Mint on a transcon route or on planes with Mini Mint. These lounges will only be accessible by those who are flying Mint to Europe (not even Costa Rica), Mosaic 4 members, those with the new premium credit card, and finally, those who purchase a pass (I presume space depending).

I have to say, it's a bit cheap not offering lounge access for those on the JFK-LAX route, especially when the US3 all offer access. But that's my view...

Final Thoughts

JetBlue is playing catchup with their competitors, as they are set to roll out their new "Mini Mint" fleetwide as of 2027. Expect about 25% of their fleet to have this new "Domestic First" by the end of 2026, and almost 80-90% to have this product by 2027. IN addition, JetBlue is set to open two Flagship Lounges in New York and Boston. While these probably won't be at the level of the Delta One Lounges, I presume they will be swanky, as that seems to be JetBlue's vibe. Regardless, this is a good move for the airline, as what they are doing now seems to be just putting them in more and more debt.
