It's Time For Carnival
Intro
Throughout my life I have long been a fan of events and festivals across the globe. However, there has always been one certain event that I have been dying to visit, and this is Carnival in Brazil. Well, as it turns out, I am heading down to Rio tomorrow to experience my first-ever Carnival. Words cannot describe my excitement!
Supposedly, the best carnival is in the state of Bahia, but seeing as I have friends already in Rio for this, I figured this was the perfect opportunity.
The Plan
With a doctor's note written until the end of the week, this allows me 2 days of travel and 3 days in Rio. While not optima, it is certainly better than nothing 😉.
Tomorrow I head out with United Airlines from Los Angeles to Chicago and then onward to Sao Paulo. I decided on this routing for two different reasons. Firstly, this will be the last of Uniteds long-haul fleet that I haven't reviewed in Polaris, and seconly, my plus point upgrade cleared on the leg to Sao Paulo.

Once landing bright and early in Sao Paulo, I am going to make my way over to Cogonhas airport to take a short hop over to Santos Dumont airport in Rio. While I have reviewed the opposite leg, I have always been fascinated about landing in SDU due to the short runway.
From the second I land on Thursday until 8 pm on Saturday night, it becomes a non-stop party. From dancing at blocos, to watching the opening ceremony and enjoying the beach, this will be a weekend to remember.
I'll be spending one night in an Airbnb, and one night in a hotel to compare and contrast the differences during carnival. I think this will be cool for the blog and hopefully will help future travelers heading to Rio for carnival.

For the return part of the flight back to the US, I wasn't too fussed about which airline I was on. However, when I found space using an SWU from Rio to New York on American Airlines, I figured this would be a perfect way to check out the 777-200 long-haul business class product (I have reviewed a short flight with them before).
My routing also takes me across to Chicago before onward to Los Angeles, as I wanted to review the Flagship Lounge in ORD. With published reviews of the Greenwich Lounge in New York, the Flagship Lounge in Miami, and the Flagship Lounge in Los Angeles, it's only right that ORD gets some love and affection 😉.
While I am an avid fan of United Airlines, I think it is critical to keep up to date with the competition in order to compare and contrast.
Final Thoughts
It's been a whopping 24 days since I was last on a plane, and it is finally time to embark on the next adventure: Carnival in Rio De Janeiro. Carnival has always been something I have wanted to attend, and excitement hasn't even begun to showcase how I feel.
However, keep in mind that I will most likely be off my head the majority of the time there, so posting may not remain as consistent, but I will try. We have a good series going on right now, having just reviewed LOTs 787-9 long-haul product 🙂.
