Delta Plans On New Salt Lake City-Seoul Route
Intro
Throughout this blog, I have made it inherently clear why I think Delta Airlines is the worst carrier out of the US3. However, with that being said, their ability to launch new routes seems to be much better than American Airlines😞.
Delta Airlines will be launching a new route from Salt Lake City to Seoul shortly. While the details aren't yet confirmed, I will be excited to see what happens.
The Details
Delta Airlines currently serves Seoul Incheon from 4 different hubs. These consist of Atlanta, Detroit, Minneapolis, and Seattle. Interestingly, Delta doesn't operate any flights to Asia out of New York😒, the only continent of the 6 (ANT doesn't count) they don't serve out of New York Kennedy.
As noted by JonNYC on X, Delta plans to serve this new route from Salt Lake City, but no details have been confirmed. I would definitely expect that the aircraft to operate this route will be an A330-900neo, featuring the new Delta One Suites. However, as time progresses and more details are found, I will update this post to reflect the new route.
Salt Lake City Is Growing
About 7 years ago, I lived near Salt Lake City for about 2 years. During that time, there was only one permanent long-haul route out of SLC, London. There were some routes that were seasonal, but as my mum used to visit me on occasion, she would frequently take this route. Now look at it: Delta alone flies to Amsterdam, London, Paris, and shortly Seoul.
Final Thoughts
Even if details are scarce at the moment, we know that Delta plans to fly from Salt Lake City to Seoul. Expect this route to be operated by an A330-900neo and at least 5x weekly. Considering Delta has a fantastic partnership with Korean Air, this makes a whole lot of sense.
