Delta Adds Seven New European Routes For Next Summer

Intro

Delta Airlines, as much I give you grief about cutting your daytime Paris flight, as well as the seasonal JFK-Munich flight, I've gotta say that these new seven routes to Europe look promising.

Delta Airlines will be adding seven new routes from the East Coast (mostly) to various parts of Europe during the summer of 2025. Every summer, we see the big three US carriers' experiences with new destinations. American Airlines just released the new routes they plan to fly, but Delta seems to be focusing on Italy.

The Details

Delta Airlines will be adding seven routes to European destinations. These are as follows:

  • New York (JFK) to Catania, Italy (CTA), daily — Boeing 767-300ER. A completely new destination that no US3 carrier serves.

  • Atlanta (ATL) to Brussels, Belgium (BRU) — 3x weekly, Boeing 767-300ER. Delta also flies from New York

  • Atlanta (ATL) to Naples, Italy (NAP) — 3x weekly, Airbus A330-200. Delta also flies this route from New York as well

  • Boston (BOS) to Barcelona, Spain (BCN) — 3x weekly, Boeing 767-300ER. Delta also flies this route from New York and Atlanta.

  • Boston (BOS) to Milan, Italy (MXP) — 4x weekly, 767-300ER. Delta also flies this route from New York and Atlanta.

  • Detroit (DTW) to Dublin, Ireland (DUB) —4x weekly, Airbus A330-200. Delta serves this route from 2-4 other destinations during the year.

  • Minneapolis (MSP) to Rome, Italy (FCO) — 4x weekly, Airbus A330-300. Delta serves this route from 2-4 other destinations during the year.

My Thoughts

This whole summer route shake-up is clearly well thought through compared to previous years. Heck, in one of my hometowns (The Hamptons), rumor has it that rental prices have dropped by 30% during the summer due to everyone flocking to Italy😳. Out of the seven routes, four of them are heading to Italy, meaning the demand is clearly there.

I'm interested in seeing Boston get a lot more love from airlines after the pandemic. United used to operate a flight from LHR, and AA operates a 777-200 to LHR as well. Delta will now be going above and beyond to offer a more extensive network from Boston. It seems that the majority of US airlines can't seem to make Boston work as a hub, but Delta is attempting to give it a further shot.

Final Thoughts

Delta Airlines will be adding seven new seasonal routes from the mainland US to Europe for next summer. While some of these aren't all that surprising, it's nice to see nonstop service being offered to a new destination, Catania.
