British Airways Cuts Down Certain USA Routes
Intro
British Airways has been having some certain issues with their 787 fleet, as the engines, Rolls Royce Trent 1000s, have been having some technical difficulties let's just say. British Airways has been shaking things up recently in their US network, ending their Dallas flights and now trimming down certain routes. As it would turn out, it seems that BA will be missing four key aircraft for this summer, which is not a good thing.
Routes Affected
San Diego
British Airways currently serves London Heathrow to San Diego twice daily, on a 777-300ER and a 787-8 (during the summer months). However, as of April 13th, the airline plans to trim down this route slightly to 13x weekly.
Houston
While British Airways might have pulled out of Dallas, in turn to practically give the route to American Airlines, as of October, the 12 times weekly service connecting Houston to London will be trimmed to 11x weekly.
New Orleans
British Airways currently operates 4x weekly service from London to New Orleans on a 787. However, as of October, it seems that this route has also been trimmed down to 3x weekly.

Obviously, it is quite rough when you are dealing with engine difficulties during the highest peak period of travel. However, from what BA is mentioning, it seems that they are attempting to mitigate the impact of these planes being out of service. Losing 1/14 flights to San Diego isn't ideal, but it also isn't the end of the world. Just keep an eye out when booking, as your ideal flight my not be bookable on that certain day!
Final Thoughts
British Airways is facing some maintenance work on four of their 787s. At the moment, we hear it is due to the Rolls Royce 1000 engines, but this means that certain routes will have to be trimmed throughout the year. Houston is going from 12x weekly to 11x weekly. San Diego is going from 14x weekly to 13x weekly, and New Orleans is going from 4x weekly to 3x weekly.
