Booked! Aeromexico Business Class From Santiago- Los Angeles (787-9 & 787-8)
Excited is an understatement for this deal I just came across. For my spring break, I will be visiting 6 new countries (8 total) in 10 days (more on the whole trip when it is booked). On the way back I wanted some luxury, at an economy price (like one should want). Well, I found what I wanted. Over 12 hours in Aeromexico business class for 1089$, including a review of lounges in Santiago and Mexico City.
How I Booked
Using Google Flights, I was able to come across this unbelievable fare. Interestingly when I went to the website it said economy was 11,900$. So business class is 1/11 of the price?
After clicking my limited flexibility ticket, I proceeded to select to type in all of my details, select my seats, and eventually checkout. Overall, if you are looking to book this same fare, I found it available for a few days over the next few months. Most days are priced out at around 2000+.
Santiago To Mexico City
After a hearty meal consisting of a boatload of steak and red wine, I will head to the airport to fly the 787-9 (touch wood no aircraft swap) on this 4000-mile hop up to Mexico City. The flight is blocked at 8 hours and 31 minutes but I expect it to be slightly shorter as of the previous flights.
The reason I am so excited as the Aeromexico 787-9 features reverse herringbone seating. I have flown the 787-8 version countless times from Mexico City- Los Angeles and also New York but have never been lucky enough to try the -9. I am praying that there is no aircraft swap. Combining this with the fantastic service I have received on my previous flights I am sure this is going to rank in my top 20 business-class products.
Mexico City To Los Angeles
After a 2-and-a-half-hour layover in the newly renovated salon premier lounge in Mexico City, I will head to Los Angeles onboard the 787-8. While I have flown this route countless times I have never reviewed it or sat in the mini cabin (row 6). I gave up seat 1A to be able to sit in 6A in the mini cabin. The flight is blocked at 4 hours and 10 minutes which is a perfect amount of time to eat (last time they had waffles which were unreal), review, have a bit of champagne, and have a nap.
As I mentioned the Aeromexico business class on the 787-8 is arranged in a 2-2-2 configuration. For a flight of this length, I don't mind that at all, in comparison Delta and American don't offer beds on this route... What I love about the 787-8 is of course the beds but the IFE is great, I sleep quite well and Aeromexico serves quality champagne. I have to say, Aeromexico is extremely underrated from my past experiences, I hope they live up to the expectation this time.
Final Thoughts
One of my favorite things in life is when a good deal comes together. After what is going to be an unbelievable trip which includes the Salt Flat in Uyuni and hiking Machu Picchu I am going to want this business class seat for the way back. Considering I paid 1089$ for 12.5 hours in business class which hopefully, will feature reverse herringbone seats, it was a no-brainer.
