Aeroflot's 3X Weekly Service From Moscow To Denpasar. Wow
Intro
Living in Bali, I am treated to plenty of incredible aspects of life that I won't get in a lot of other places in the world. As an example, every afternoon, I get to see the Emirates A380 make its final approach to Denpasar out over the ocean. However, the one thing I didn't realize is that Aeroflot, the flag carrier of Russia, launched direct flights from Moscow Sheremetyevo to Denpasar in late 2024.
Considering the high population of Russians in Bali, combined with Indonesia maintaining itself as a "neutral country," this is a great way for Russians to head out on holiday.
The Details
Aeroflot launched a service between Moscow Sheremetyevo and Denpasar back in late 2024 with a 3x weekly service in both directions. It's one of Aeroflot's longest routes at the moment, clocking in at over 6,200 miles in each direction and taking a touch over 12 hours. The schedule for this route is as follows:
SU296: Moscow-Denpasar departing 14:40 arriving 08:05 (+1 day)
SU297: Denpasar-Moscow departing 10:05 arriving 17:55
The aircraft being used for this route is the beautiful Airbus A350-900, featuring 28 business class seats, 24 premium economy seats, and 264 economy seats. When I say this aircraft is beautiful, just take a look at this gorgeous business class cabin on this aircraft.

Aeroflot was originally intended to take delivery of more A350s, but for the time being, they seem to only have 6 active aircraft...

Pricing
Something that I haven't been able to get my head around is just how expensive Aeroflot business class fares are across the world. A random date in March between Moscow and Mahe comes out to 6,500 USD one way in Business Class; wow! However, if they have the demand, I see no issue with it!
However, with the competition on this route quite high, with the likes of Emirates and Qatar serving 1 stop connections, the pricing seems more reasonable to Denpasar.
Economy class starts at 900$ roundtrip
Premium economy is around 1600$ roundtrip
Business class starts* at 4300$ roundtrip

My Thoughts
This is a really smart move by Aeroflot adding flights from Moscow to Denpasar. The number of Russians who vacation in Bali is extremely high, and I bet the load factors on this route are quite high. I can't help but wonder why this route seems to only operate three times weekly, I imagine that in the near future this might be upgraded to five times weekly or more.
On a personal note, I would very much like to try out Aeroflot. I am in the process of planning a trip to Russia on Aeroflot, perhaps heading on their 777-300 to Vladivostok and then somehow connecting back to Moscow before heading on the final leg on the Conviasa A340 over to Caracas. The visa to Venezuela and finding the time are the two big kickers here.
I don't get political on this blog; I just wish Aeroflot still operated its service in the United States. How cool it would be to hop on their A350 over to Moscow!
For reference-
American Airlines used to service daily flights from Chicago to Moscow until 2009
United Airlines used to service daily flights from Washington Dulles to Moscow until 2012
Delta Airlines used to service daily flights from New York (JFK) to Moscow until 2015
Aeroflot used to service daily flights from Moscow-LAX/JFK/IAD/MIA/SFO/SEA/ORD
Final Thoughts
For those looking to get from Russia to Bali in the most effective way, Aeroflot now operates 3x weekly service from Moscow to Denpasar on their flagship A350-900 aircraft. I've gotta say, I am dying to take a flight on this plane and try out Aeroflot, it seems like an amazing experience!
