United Set To Resume Flights To Tel Aviv As Of July 21st

Intro

Since 2023, we have seen escalations in the Middle East, and multiple airlines cancel flights into Tel Aviv for temporary periods of time, along with other airlines just opting to not to serve Tel Aviv as a whole.

Well, United is becoming the first US* airline to resume service to Tel Aviv, after the latest round of cancellations came on June 11th, 2025.

The Details

As of July 21st, United will resume flights from Newark to Tel Aviv utilizing 787-10s. On July 21st, only 1 of the 2 daily frequencies will be offered, while come July 22nd, both flights will be up and running.

The schedules for these 2x daily flights are as follows:

UA84: Newark to Tel Aviv departing at 15:30 and arriving at 08:55 (+1 day)

UA85: Tel Aviv to Newark departing at 11:00 and arriving at 15:45

UA90: Newark to Tel Aviv departing at 22:50 and arriving at 16:20 (+1 day)

UA91: Tel Aviv to Newark departing at 23:25 and arriving at 04:10 (+1 day)

United will use the 787-10 featuring 44 business class seats, 21 premium economy seats, and 253 economy seats.

Keep in mind that El Al, the flag carrier of Israel, operates up to 5x daily flights from Tel Aviv to the New York area. With Delta not announcing that it will bring back its TLV route, it will be a battle between El Al and UA.

A Hard Route To Clear Upgrades On

Look, I am not going to go on and on about how profitable this route is for United, as I have spoken about that 100 times. However, what I will talk about is how tough it is to clear upgrades on this route.

If you are looking to upgrade to a premium cabin on United, either using PlusPoints or an MUA, Tel Aviv is going to be tricky. Prior to the suspension, I was monitoring flights to see if I could use my PlusPoints to get to TLV, and not a single day had PZ space. The same still applies for now.

Even checking online now, cash fares are pricey for all cabins, and you will easily be shelling out 6K round-trip for a direct* flight in business class.

No shade against United, if you can sell it, why not?

Final Thoughts

United Airlines is set to resume its twice-daily service between Newark and Tel Aviv on July 21st, after over a month of suspension due to conflict in the Middle East. It's exciting to see how most routes are being returned to relative normalcy in the region, and more so, I think United will be happy to have one of its most profitable routes back.
