Intro
About a month ago, United Airlines came out with a new and updated list of buy-on-board menus, as well as new dishware, and expanded drink selections. Well, yesterday I had the privilege of being upgraded to Domestic First, and figured I would try out the new chicken parm burger, and the Tuscan Caprese.
DELICIOUS!
United Airlines has certain buy-on-board menu options for those in economy on select flights. For flights over 500 miles, Tapas boxes are offered, while flights over 1100 miles without a meal service (this is key), there is a more extensive offering.
Considering my flight from Houston to San Diego was 1300 miles, I had asked the lovely flight attendant if he wouldn't mind grabbing me a chicken parm sandwich after takeoff. 20 minutes after wheels up, I had it in hand.

I've gotta be honest: this was one of the best food items that I have had on United Airlines. Keep in mind I am basing this off plane food, but the sauce was tasty, the chicken was moist (ish), and the ciabatta was crispy. The cherry on top was that it actually filled me up.
At the same time, I don't want to know how much sodium was inside...

Additionally, for research purposes (I was so full I was going to burst like a balloon), I also tried the new burger. It wasn't great by any means, but it was edible. The way to go is certainly with the chicken parm burger...

Final Thoughts
If you happen to be flying United Airlines on a flight over 1100 miles in economy, that does not have a meal service, be sure to try the chicken parmesan sandwich. I rarely give credit to United Airlines on food (becasue it's not great as a whole 😅), but this sandwich really did hit the spot.
