Thai Airways Adding Pajamas To Business Class Soon

Intro

Ok, so I want to start this off by saying that none of this is confirmed (there are rumours circulating), but knowing the inside outs of Thai Airways and what they are looking to accomplish, this makes complete sense.

The Re-Invented Thai Airways

For the past 7 years, we have seen Thai Airways struggle immensely. What used to be a top competitor in Asia quickly fell to a level far below that. Whether it be old aircraft, lack of demand, an inconsistent product, or not having a Cat 1 rating for a long time, the airline was burning through cash quicker than Usain Bolt runs 100 meters.

Thai Airways is actually my favorite airline in the world, and I will explain why in a minute.
Thai Airways is actually my favorite airline in the world, and I will explain why in a minute.

However, since 2022-2023, we have seen Thai Airways somewhat reinvent itself. I am talking about serving caviar in business class on flights to Europe, a new business class product coming in 2026, and an overall sense of that Thai hospitality we have all come to love.

It also helps that tourism has boomed after COVID in Bangkok.

Pajamas In Business Class???

So now we get to the whole point of the post (yes, I get sidetracked often). Rumours are circulating that Thai Airways is set to offer those in business class, on flights to and from Europe, pajamas. While it is relatively rare for airlines (about 15 total) to offer pajamas for business class passengers, this is smart from Thai Airways.

Why? Quite simple. The way I see it, Thai Airways is taking on Singapore Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Cathay Pacific, and other carriers in the region, and they might win out. Let's think about this rationally. What other airline in the region (somewhat) is going to be offering caviar in business (SQ is now following suit by playing catch-up), pajamas, and that has the same level of hospitality?? None.

And honestly, I think Thai Airways might pull this off within the next 5 years.

Final Thoughts

There is a rumour circulating that Thai Airways is set to begin offering pajamas for those in business class on flights to and from Europe come 2026. While this isn't confirmed, I would bet a lot of money (as a non-gambling man) that this will come to fruition. I will tell you over and over, but watch out for Thai Airways, they might actually give SQ a run for their money...

Very exciting times for my home/favourite airline! Also noting that they'll be taking delivery of the first 2 of the 32 A321NEOs on order in November/December. With life flat seats in Business, IFE in Economy and a whole new interior concept! The new seat colours/fabrics have already been retrofitted to half of the A320s, featuring new cabin colours and Economy and Business! With these A321s expected to jump into service in Jan 2026. Also exciting to note that, the 777-300ER and A350 fleet will all be given a nose to tail makeover, starting in 2027 & 2028, respectively, these will be the same cabins that will be on the 787-9s and 787-10s coming in 2027. There will be a Business…

It certainly is exciting, 150 aircraft fleet expected by 2033! That's a massive expansion. Especially currently while they are mulling the 777-300ER replacements as well, doing case studies between the A350-1000 & 777-9, which was mentioned by the CEO a while ago.

As for First Class disappearing, 2030 was a typo on my part, The CEO has claimed in several Thai language interviews, including one from May that, First Class will end when the lease of the 3 77Y config HS-TTA-TTC 777-300ERs end, which is around 2032-2033. Which is why only 14 777-300ERs are slated for retrofitting HS-TKK-TKZ.

He says that they, along with the 787s, and A350s will offer a Business Premium first row product, that will have elevated…
