Intro
Prior to my flight onboard United Polaris from Tokyo Narita to San Francisco, I had the opportunity to check out the ANA Business Class Lounge. While United passengers technically are eligible for access to this lounge and the United Club, I have always found the crowd to be much more “international” and peaceful in the ANA Lounge.
With that being said, I quite like this lounge. It’s certainly not the best, but it is very large, has plenty of amenities, and the cool beer-pourers. Certainly better than the United Club, and especially the backroom.
Location+Access
The main ANA Lounge at Tokyo Narita is located nearby gates 51,52,53, and 54. ANA does a good job of labelling their lounges well, so it’s pretty easy to find where the large escalator leading up to the lounge is.

In terms of access, ANA follows the regular Star Alliance Lounge Access rules, entailing:
Those with Star Alliance Gold status departing on a Star Alliance-operated flight can access the lounge
Those flying business class departing on a Star Alliance-operated flight can access the lounge
Premium economy passengers departing on ANA
Day passes are available for those flying in economy on ANA
Additionally, there is a section off to the right for “First Class” customers, although I have never actually been inside 😒.
The lounge is open from 7 am until the last ANA departure.
Seating
Stepping into the lounge is where you will find the busiest section, most likely due to the buffet being located there. Typically, during the peak departure hours the comfortable leather seats here can get packed, so this is why I recommend, you head to…

The back of the lounge. If you keep heading down the hallway is where you will more leather seats. While not in the best condition in comparison to the main part of the lounge, privacy is my number one outlook when it comes to the lounge and that is provided here. Whether you are looking for nap pods (not lie-flat), or just a place to relax with multiple charging ports, this is the place I recommend.

Food+Beverages
The Japanese culture is a beautiful thing, whether you are looking for beer that pours itself 😉, basic liquors to make a drink, or perhaps engaging in a Sake, the ANA lounge has it all. Let’s just say, I did have a couple of beers before the flight 😉.

On the food side, I never was able to get any clean shots of what was on offer due to the madness of waiting in line, but I managed to photograph the back part of the lounge which has sandwiches, and a few other hot options.

Showers
Perhaps the best part of the lounge was the exquisite showers on offer, and the efficiency in how the system works. Simply head over to the kiosk in the lounge, and you can get a shower through that! No talking to people or nothing! wow.

You will have to walk down a long hallway nearby to the First Class Lounge to find the showers, but once inside, these showers are decadently appointed with all of the amenities you could ask for.

Lavatories/Views
Finally, you have the lavatories which are located in the center of the lounge. Much like with Japan as a whole, these were always kept clean during my stay, and offered plenty of different options depending on what you needed.

Oh yeah, off topic, but the views are killer! Especially from the smoking lounge (if that is your thing).

Final Thoughts
Overall, the ANA Lounge at Tokyo Narita isn’t a bad place to hang out in for a few hours before your flight. With the back room being a lot quieter, plenty of alcohol on offer, and nice showers, I was comfortable for the three hours I spent here. If only they would put a full scale buffet in the back… At least they had free wifi so I could get some work done!
