Quick Review: Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge Frankfurt
Updated: Feb 10
Intro
Following my flight onboard Discover Airlines in Business Class on their A330-300, I had roughly 5 hours to kill before boarding to Chicago. As Frankfurt is Star Alliance central, this means that I had access to plenty of lounges throughout the whole airport, and my first stop was the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge.
I've gotta say, the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge at Frankfurt is one of my favorite Air Canada lounges in the network (minus the signature suite, of course). The lounge offers a fantastic ambiance, a decent selection of food, nice showers, and decent drinks.
Location+Access
While Lufthansa lounges are scattered throughout the airport, there is only a singular Air Canada lounge. Located in terminal 1, Concourse B, follow the signs to B41-B48 after completing passport checks, and you will see the Air Canada Lounge on your right-hand side.

I love it when airlines display one of their flagship aircraft in a lounge or even in their own hotels, such as Ethiopian Airlines.

In terms of access, the first aspect to note is that this lounge is only open from 6 am until 5 pm. Ultimately, the goal here is to cover all of the Air Canada flights and not necessarily partner flights. However, a lot of partner flights fall within this time frame.
There are two ways to access this lounge.
Passengers seated in Business Class on a Star Alliance Carrier (obviously including Air Canada) are eligible for entry. However, no guests are allowed.
Passengers that hold Star Alliance Gold status can access this lounge with a same-day ticket on a Star Alliance carrier. 1 guest is allowed.
Note to others: passengers flying on Air Dolomiti cannot access this lounge, even if they are Star Alliance Gold or ticketed in Business. The only option is the Lufthansa lounge.
Seating
The Air Canada lounge provides some exceptional seating options for those looking to chill out for a few hours. Whether you want to relax by a fake fireplace (not sure if this would be classified as a fake fireplace, but you should get the memo 😂), get some work done on individual chairs, or perhaps dine in the dining area, there are many options.
I've been back to this lounge a couple of times this year and have never seen it that busy before 11 am.

Dining/Drinks
In my humble opinion, Air Canada does better than any other North American carrier when it comes to their lounges/clubs. The food that Air Canada tends to offer is quite tasty, and the one in Frankfurt is no different.
I happened to only stumble upon the breakfast items here but was pleasantly surprised to find bacon, sausages, eggs, bagels, croissants, and pretzels 😮 (not as good as the Lufthansa lounges, though).
For those looking to quench their thirst or have a little buzz before a flight, you'll be happy to know that Air Canada offers an extensive drinks selection. They constantly have two different champagnes/sparkling wines out, one being a traditional brut and the other being a Rose. Of course, liquor, water, soft drinks, and juices are all available as well.

Lavatories/Showers
However, the main part that impressed me were the facilities at this lounge. While the bathrooms were nice (as most AC lounges are) what really took this lounge to the next level were the showers. A simplistic yet modern-looking design is a great way to freshen up for the long day ahead.

Final Thoughts
If you happen to be flying a Star Alliance carrier out of Frankfurt soon and are already around B gates, I highly recommend checking out the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge. This lounge is one of the best lounges in the Air Canada network with not too many crowds, free wifi, a great selection of food, and a decent drinks selection.
