Intro
For most passengers around the world, flying on a redeye flight is one of the best things you can do to maximize time on the ground, whether that be for meetings or simply a vacation. However, typically transpacific flights in the past have only been able to operate redeyes in one direction due to the time changes and airport curfews, but this is soon changing.
Iberia Madrid-Dallas
At the current moment of time, there is yet to be a Westbound trans-Pacific redeye flight. However, as of October 28th, 2025, Iberia will be launching a reverse redeye from Madrid to Dallas with the following schedule:
IB363: Madrid-Dallas departing 12:55 AM arriving 5:30 AM
IB364: Dallas-Madrid departing 1:55 PM arriving 6:15 AM (+1 day)
While we have seen certain reverse redeyes operate Westbound from deeper in Europe, this is the first one we will see to the US. Well, the question is why? Oftentimes, when flying from Europe to the US, most reverse redeyes would be impractical for a number of reasons. Firstly, London might come to mind due to the high demand for business, but it wouldn't make much sense as Heathrow has a curfew of midnight, which would put passengers in at 2:30 am...

However, there is also one other factor that plays a big role here, and that is the time that an aircraft would spend on the ground. As you can see from the Iberia schedule, the aircraft is set to spend 8 and a half hours on the ground, and while this can maximize connection profitability, airlines only make money when the plane is flying (talking about airfare here).
Some Reverse Redeyes I Would Like To See
So, on the topic of reverse redeyes, here are a couple of reverse redeyes that would pique my interest. While these will never work, one can always have dreams 😅.
London- Los Angeles
London- New York
East Africa (maybe Dakar or Marrakesh)- East Coast USA
Lisbon- Miami (connecting traffic to South America)
Lisbon- San Francisco
However, I am curious, what reverse redeyes would you be interested in?
Final Thoughts
While reverse redeyes haven't been around for quite a while from Europe to the United States, Iberia has just announced that as of October 28th, the airline will be launching overnight flights from Madrid to Dallas. Considering you can have a whole day in Madrid, and a whole day in Dallas, this is fantastic for everyone, minus the fact that the plane has to be on the ground for 8 and a half hours...
