How To Get An E-Visa To Pakistan

Intro

Prior to my experience exploring Islamabad and Peshawar, I was a little bit nervous about attempting to get an E-Visa for the country. Every country around the world has its own little quirks to figure out with E-Visas, and Pakistan is no different.

Without further ado, follow these steps, and you will have your Pakistan E-Visa in no time. Be aware that not all nationalities are eligible for the E-Visa Program, so make sure to double-check (you can check here)!

How To Get The Visa

  1. The very first step to getting the visa is heading to the actual website (attached here). Some websites are not the correct ones.

  2. From there, a screen will pop up saying "new account" or "login."

If you get here, you are on the right track!

  1. Once you get to this page, fill out all of the required information, and head to step 2 which is to verify your email. Got it? Cool! 😎

  2. Once that is all done, head to the login page and attempt to login. A message like this should pop up and select "log out of all sessions" (it's a glitch in the system, don't worry 😉).

Don't worry, it is normal...

  1. Once re-logged in (it works the second time), accept the terms and conditions, and a page should show up stating "Pak E-Visa or Exit Permit".

  2. Select "Pak E-Visa"

  3. Select your nationality, and do not import data (it gets complicated with hotel stays and stuff).

  4. From there, you fill out the application to the end. A couple of things I recommend doing are:

    - Make sure you have a hotel confirmation for the whole time, and submit the PDF itinerary *under the supporting documents). If you submit a screenshot, it will not work

    - Make sure you fill out every detail to the best of your knowledge, even the stuff you don't have to. Pakistan is somewhat stingy, and you have to format it correctly, otherwise it will be denied.

It doesn't say to add a hotel booking, but you need to!

Once that is all wrapped up and submitted, you will have to wait for approval.

My Tips/Advice

  • An E-Visa usually takes 2-3 business days to come through, so make sure to process this in advance.

  • If the E-Visa hasn't come through within 3 business days, reach out via email to the online embassy and request information.

  • If it has been more than 7 days, cancel it free of charge (the visa is free) and reapply, making sure you have ALL of the documents necessary.

Other than that, it's pretty straightforward.

Arrival In Pakistan

If you haven't been to countries that aren't frequently visited in Central Asia, arriving at an airport in Pakistan will be an eye-opener, at least it was for me. There were no lines, just everyone pushing to the front and swarming the officers; it was actually quite fun.

Islamabad Airport is quite a modern place!

However, once you do eventually get to see an immigration officer, you present your E-Visa and get stamped into the country. It's a very straightforward process, and there will be no physical visa in your passport.

Final Thoughts

I cannot stress enough, if you are applying for a Pakistan E-Visa, make sure that you have a hotel for the WHOLE DURATION of your stay booked, and it must be a PDF itinerary with your name on it, not a screenshot. Other than that, just make sure to fill out all of the information that is needed, and it's a pretty straightforward process.

Hope this helped!
