Here We Go Again: Delta Resuming Flights To Israel

Intro

Over the past few years, we have seen ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which has caused multiple airlines to cancel flights into the region, restart them, cancel again, and then restart them again. We even saw El Al move their whole fleet out of Israel at one point.

With United having brought back its 2x daily service from Newark to Tel Aviv, it seems that Delta is following suit, after a 3-month hiatus.

The Details

Beginning September 1st, 2025, Delta will once again resume its 1x daily flight from New York (JFK) to Tel Aviv, Israel. As in the past, the plane will be operated by an Airbus A330-900Neo featuring 29 business class seats, 28 premium economy seats, and 224 economy seats. The schedule for this route is as follows:

DL234: New York-Tel Aviv departing at 15:45 and arriving 09:35 (+1 day)

DL235: Tel Aviv-New York departing at 11:50 and arriving at 17:05

The Delta A330-900Neo Business Class is a pretty nice product, but not quite as spacious as the A350

Again & Again

Tel Aviv to the US is the market that resembles life, honestly. Everything that is lucrative in life often comes at the cost of doing something hard. There is no doubt about it, United has said that their most profitable routes were to and from Tel Aviv, but with the ongoing conflict, it has become increasingly more difficult to operate.

Another interesting twist to this is that generally, United and Delta have resumed service at similar times. However, this time, Delta decided to wait 6 weeks after United had resumed service. It might be to do with safety, it might be to do with a shortage of aircraft during the summer travel period, and it might be a combination of both due to their partnership with El Al, and how the Israeli flag carrier flies multiple nonstops to JFK daily.

Final Thoughts

Those who are loyal to Delta and happen to be traveling to Israel will be pleased to know that as of September 1st, Delta will be resuming daily service to Tel Aviv from New York (JFK). While this comes 6 weeks after United resumed double daily service, one has to presume that the Delta route is less profitable than United, primarily due to El Al and their schedule to Tel Aviv.
