Eurostar Trains Canceled: WWII Bomb Found On Tracks Outside Of Paris. WOW!

Konrad Tillman

Intro

It's not every day that you hear about one of the most prestigious train routes being canceled due to an unexploded WWII bomb on the tracks, but wow.

The Details

On the morning of March 7th, 2025, an extremely large bomb was found roughly 2.5 km outside of Paris Gare Du Nord near Saint-Denis. It is said to believe that this bomb is from WWII, and weighs around 500kg with over 200kg of explosives. Due to the finding of the bomb, nearby houses were evacuated, and trains running along the tracks were unable to pass through.

Multiple cancellations, both internationally and domestically, were affected. Sources indicate that over 600,000 people were disrupted by this bomb which is an astonishing number.

As of now, it is believed that the bomb has been somewhat disposed of as trains seem to be up and running again with somewhat of a normal schedule.

My Thoughts

The Eurostar has been operating for almost 21 years now, running over the same tracks multiple times everyday. It's astonishing to believe that this bomb hadn't been triggered in the last 21 years, or perhaps earlier since certain other trains use this route.

It's scary to think that the size of this bomb was never found until now. Thankfully this bomb is now found, but my oh my, I am grateful that everyone is safe. Could you imagine the catastrophe if this bomb had gone off 😮.

Final Thoughts

A 500kg ex-WWII bomb was found this morning just outside of Paris Gare Du Nord. At the time, most trains were canceled, and over 600,000 passengers were disrupted in order to excavate/dispose of the bomb. It seems that the bomb has been disposed of, as trains are now back on somewhat of a normal schedule now. Mind Blowing!
