Intro
Gambling has been illegal on commercial aircraft in the United States since the Gambling Devices Act came to fruition in 1962. However, could this soon change? As Delta is giving out surveys on whether or not passengers might be interested in online gambling...
The Details
A couple of reports have floated about online and on Reddit, stating that passengers are receiving surveys asking whether or not they would be interested in accessing online gambling while connected to Delta's Wifi.

For now, this is merely just something that is being talked about, but I have to imagine that something deeper is going on behind the scenes. Back in January, Ed Bastian (CEO of Delta) launched a partnership with DraftKings, making it known that the airline would somehow integrate DraftKings onto their IFE system.
Is This Possible?
Look, I am not the type of person who can read the fine print and know if there are ways around the laws, but Delta must have something up their sleeve here for the CEO to say something like that. Considering they found a way around the tariffs, I wouldn't be surprised to see something come from this. Maybe not this year or next, but a few years down the line.
And as much as I do not like gambling, it would be purely genius for the airline to do this. To have people crammed up in a metal tube for 13 hours on their way to Tokyo, offering gambling once people have had a few drinks. Yeah, wow.
I mean, personally, I hope nothing comes of this, but it would be very profitable.
Final Thoughts
Reports online have come out stating that Delta Airlines has been sending out surveys asking whether or not people would be interested in sports betting during flights. While this is technically illegal since 1962, Delta has signed a partnership with DraftKings. Let's see how this turns out.
