Delta Launching Atlanta-Marrakesh Flights

Konrad Tillman

Intro

Delta is certainly an airline that has attempted to expand its long-haul route network, serving all 6 continents daily. Well, it has just been revealed that the airline will soon begin flying flights to Morroco, and I have to say that I am intrigued by this.

What We Know

Delta Airlines has announced that it will be launching 3x weekly nonstop service from Atlanta to Marrkesh as of October 25th, 2025. The plane that will be operating this 4,300-odd-mile route will be the Boeing 767-400ER featuring 34 business class seats, 24 premium economy seats, and 184 economy seats. The schedule for this flight is as follows:

DL186: Atlanta-Marrakesh departing 7:45 pm and arriving at 8:55 am (+1)

DL187: Marrakesh-Atlanta departing 10:50 am and arriving at 2:55 pm

My Thoughts

In all honesty, I am a little surprised with this route launching for a couple of reasons. For starters, it seems that the passenger load hasn't been that great for the United flight out of Newark (from what I can tell, I could be wrong). However, I do not have the data on the cargo flights so that could be a contributing factor. Additionally, if they were going to operate this route, surely they would use a 763?

Nonetheless, it is always exciting to see another US airline add flights into different parts of Africa, and this will be Delta's sixth flight to the continent (ACC, DSS, JNB, LOS (ATL, JFK). Let's see how the load factors turn out, as I hope the best for Delta on this route.

Final Thoughts

Delta Airlines just announced that it will be adding its sixth route into Africa with 3x weekly service from Atlanta to Marrakesh as of October 25th, 2025. This is exciting stuff, as now all three alliances will be serving a US destination out of Morocco. If Delta isn't your jam, Air Canada, United, and Royal Air Maroc all have service to the US from a Moroccan airport.
