Delta Airlines Will Begin Serving Tattinger Champagne!

Konrad Tillman

Intro

As I wrote about not too long ago, United Airlines recently announced their collaboration with Laurent Perrier, which is now served in Polaris Lounges and onboard to passengers seated in Polaris. Well, the most “premium” airline in the US (Delta) will soon be announcing their partnership with a different name-brand champagne, and I’ve gotta say, this is exciting!

The Details

Currently, the exact timing is unknown, but Delta should shortly be announcing its partnership with Taittinger to begin serving these bubbles to those seated in Delta One. The one aspect that Delta has really let customers down on is their champagne offering. If you look at the lounge situations, American Airlines serves Piper Heidsieck (same as CX), United serves Laurent Perrier, and Delta serves some champagne that I’ve personally never heard of. I hope DL decides to stock Taittinger in their D1 Lounges

However, while this rollout of champagne across Delta One should be coming shortly, it will not be to all markets. The rumor on the street is that Taittinger will only be served to Europe/South America (Brazil, Chile, Argentina), South Africa, Oceania, and Asia. Meaning that if you are flying domestically within the US on a route operated by “Delta One,” it most likely will not be served.

In my brutally honest opinion, this isn’t a bad thing… although they should upgrade their transcon offering to something a tad nicer.

My Thoughts

Taittinger is my favorite champagne, so I might be a little bit biased here, but this is a great look for Delta Airlines. For the past while in the USA, there was a lack of premium partnerships for champagne offerings. However, with United adding Laurent Perrier, and now Delta adding Taittinger, the only airline that needs to catch up is American Airlines. It would be sensational if they began serving Piper onboard.

My one hope for Delta is that they stock both the Brut and Rosé version of Taittinger onboard. One aspect where Qatar Airways shines is how they offer a very decent rosé champagne to customers. This used to be Alexandra, but it’s now something different, unfortunately. The Rosé Taittinger is a fantastic champagne, and I hope they decide to add it onboard!

Final Thoughts

In the next week or so, we should see Delta announce their partnership with Taittinger. For now, I am not quite sure how long the rollout will take until they start serving this champagne onboard, but it should be relatively quick. If you are looking to experience some delightful bubbles in Delta One, just make sure you are not flying domestically, as I don’t think this will be served…
