Intro
Just yesterday, I wrote about the bureaucracy behind Trump's new travel ban affecting 19 countries (12 full, 7 with conditions). Well, today I was reading a post on social media after class, and came across an interesting development when it comes to Chad.
The Details
Chad's president, Mahamat Idriss Deby, has decided to reciprocate the US travel ban for their own country. As of a few days ago, US citizens visiting Chad will not be able to anymore, as the country has suspended visas for anyone on a US passport.

Interestingly, there were many other African countries that were affected by the new travel ban, and this is what some of the other countries said about it:
The Republic of the Congo came out with the following statement: In the Republic of Congo, government spokesperson Thierry Moungalla said he believes the country was among those affected because of a “misunderstanding” over an armed attack in the U.S., with the perpetrators mistakenly” to be from the Republic of Congo.
“Obviously, Congo is not a terrorist country, is not home to any terrorists, is not known to have a terrorist vocation. So we think that this is a misunderstanding, and I believe that in the coming hours, the competent diplomatic services of the government will contact the American authorities here,” he said in the capital of Brazzaville.
Sierra Leone has mentioned that it is working with the US government and addressing the concern.
Basically, the US doesn't trade with Chad, hence why it is on the list...
Warranted?
Without doubt: no question. It is.
If another country were to implement a ban against the USA, as an example, France, do you think the US would do the same for French citizens? Yes... I firmly stand strong that anyone should be able to get a visa to another country and visit, as long as they follow the correct procedure. Obviously, everyone has different opinions on this, but this is where I stand.
On a personal note, it is a shame that Chad has closed its borders to US Citizens as I was planning a visit there come September, after Russia. I have heard amazing things about this country and the kindness of the people, so hopefully it can all get sorted out before then.
Final Thoughts
If you are a US citizen who was looking to visit Chad soon, you'd better think again. With Trump's new travel ban affecting the country, Chad has reversed it right back on the USA, and rightfully so. A shame on a personal note, but completely understood.
By the way: Yes, I do not ever discuss politics, but it sucks to see after visiting a lot of these countries. It hurts people that I know in person who will never be able to visit with their family in the US (who are citizens). That's why, and to have it mostly over trade...
