American Airlines' New 787 Business Class Revealed!

Intro

Pictures have just been released of the brand new American Airlines Business Class that we have all been waiting for, and I have to say: I expected more from this product😒.

The Details

American Airlines is set to revamp most of its long-haul fleet, while additionally taking delivery of more 787s with an all-new setup in economy, premium economy, and business class.

The first plane has just been delivered, and some people have gotten a sneak peek at what the cabins look like.

My Thoughts

I used to be an avid OneWorld flyer for quite a while, due to the better network than American offered, in combination with the destinations that British Airways serve. Looking forward to this new business class, my thoughts were that, "perhaps AA can once return to the better version of themselves".

But I was wrong. In my non-scientific opinion, if you are coming out with a brand-new business class in 2025 and expect to compete, you can't have "sterile" seats. It seems like a lightweight seat with non-luxury details surrounding the seat in business, and to make matters worse, the screens in the Business Plus Suites are downright shameful (hopefully these are temporary).

In some odd way, the business class reminds me of the Ethiopian Airlines A350-1000 I just found; it lacked sophistication at the seat and felt sterile. Minus the branding on the headrest, it seems like an organic seat, rather than one designed specifically for AA.

Now, on better news, the premium economy cabin and economy cabin both look like a large upgrade for the airline. The colorways seem to fit, and it feels more up American Airlines' alley.

Where To Fly These New Jets

Look, the good news is that people looking for better upgrade chances are in for a treat here due to the sheer size of the cabin. At a whopping 51 business class, these jets are supposed to be based in Chicago for the time being and flying to the likes of London.

Philadelphia should be the next city to get them.

Final Thoughts

Images have just been released of the new American Airlines cabins on their fresh out of the factory 787s. While most of the Avgeek community was excited for these cabins to come to the fleet, it seems that American Airlines has dropped the ball somewhat here. The seats look lightweight and sterile in my eyes, but still a needed upgrade from most of their current fleet.
