Air Greenland Adding A320Neo
Intro
Greenland is really coming into its own as a territory looking to expand tourism. With the likes of the new airport being built in Nuuk and multiple new airlines that plan to fly to Greenland next year, Air Greenland has just announced that it plans to expand their fleet even further.
The Details
For reference, Air Greenland currently operates a fleet of a singular A330-800neo and 8 Dash 8-200s. However, as of 2027, the airline will look to take delivery of a brand new A320neo to fly from Illulisat to Copenhagen, doubling the amount of traffic they have from the overseas Danish territory to the capital of Denmark.

Air Greenland plans to operate the A320neo from Illulisat to Copenhagen with daily service. While Illulisat is an absolutely gorgeous place, it also happens to be one of the only airports in Greenland with a long enough runway to accommodate the A320neo, hence the reason.
Interestingly, pilots trained on the A330-800neo will also be able to operate the A320neo, so this shouldn't be an issue when it comes to rotations.
My Thoughts
A long, long time ago, I got the chance to visit Greenland, and my favorite part was Illulisat. On the one hand, it's quite amazing to see the expansion into Greenland from all of these carriers, allowing people from most of the world to visit relatively easily. On the other hand, it's that a very special place is starting to become commercialized (it's a selfish thing ha).
With that being said, I highly recommend you visit Greenland!

Final Thoughts
Air Greenland is looking to expand their non-propellor-based fleet and just signed a lease agreement to acquire an A320neo beginning in late 2026. Nonstop daily service from Illulisat to Copenhagen is set to begin in the first quarter of 2027 featuring this new aircraft!
