A Night Out Drinking In Nadi, Fiji 🇫🇯

Intro

After a lovely day exploring a private island onboard Captain Cook Cruises, I was ready for a night out on the town of Nadi. Throughout my travels around the world, I have grown to love spending at least one night enjoying the local nightclub/bar scene. In my opinion, you get to make new friends and see the real side of a city/country.

Well, how was it? Nothing short of a spectacular Saturday night. The only thing I wish is that I hadn't woken up hungover the next morning 😅. Can't have it all...

Bar Hopping With The Ship's Captain

Arriving back at the docks in Denarau Island, I headed off to a local bar to grab a beer before planning to head back to my Airbnb for the night. As is always said, I told myself, "1 drink and then I'll head home". Yeah, alright... 😅

Feeling groovy, I stumbled into the local bar where I came across the Fijian family that I had played volleyball on the beach with a few hours prior. They invited me over to their table, and we began chatting away like no tomorrow. It's so cool to me that people just offer random strangers to come be a temporary part of their family. We need more circumstances like this in the world...

Anyway, for the next hour, I began teaching them the English drinking game "we like to drink (insert name) because (insert name) is our mate (I hope you know how it goes 😂)," and it was so much fun. Everyone got involved, and the father, who was almost 60, was chugging beers straight to the stomach 😅.

It was so much fun, and the whole table was being so loud, the restaurant manager came over to tell us to be quiet 😅. Never in a million years would I have expected to be part of a family drinking contest in Fiji... Never...

Eventually, the captain and first mate had closed up the ship and came over to join in (they could hear us a mile away). We all got in on the action, pictures, videos, and chats were had the whole time. It was simply marvelous.

During sunset time, the family decided to leave, and we relocated to a table over the water to watch a magnificent Fijian sunset.

The captain brought his family over, and I got to meet his very kind wife and kid.

We chatted away, and the first mate (Jojo) told me all about his plans for the future. He was in the process of getting certified to operate larger ships, and thus, he was working onboard this current ship at the moment.

What a beautiful night in Fiji

We drank away, chatting about life, until it was time to go out for the night...

Honestly, one of the coolest nights of my life... Smiles all around, laughing until we cried, etc, etc...

The Night Out

We drove the roughly 20 minutes into town, bumping some fire music, and were ready to begin our night out. It was still a little early, and the clubs weren't as packed as expected.

Recommendation: right by the Burger King and heading North on that strip is where you will find all of the clubs...

We started off at some local bar, which we had gone to the night before, and got involved in some more shenanigans.

And from there we just hopped around from bar to bar and club to club. We went to a proper local club (unfortunately, no pictures), where we attempted to rizz up some ladies. Some of us succeeded, and some of us didn't. Aka, my game is just shite... 😂

It was a super fun night, and I wanted to keep going, but unfortunately, I got tired. Before heading to bed, the captain from earlier took me over to Burger King, where I somehow ended up in the playground, with a BK hat on my head.

How this happened, I am not too sure 😂.

Yup, was debating not posting me in a Burger King hat

What a night. Wow.

Final Thoughts

If I can leave you with this: put yourself out there when you travel. It doesn't have to be clubbing, it doesn't have to be drinking, but talk to random people all over the world. The worst thing that can happen is they can ignore you, but oftentimes, the locals in places like Fiji appreciate it. That night in Fiji was one of the most beautiful nights out of my life (after Senegal), because it showed that people from different backgrounds can all come together and live in the moment. It brings me back to my original philosophy.

"From separate worlds, we laugh together as one: human"
